Lower back pain can arise from many different structures in the lower back like the muscles, ligaments, discs and bones. Simple movements like bending or twisting the spine can cause lower back pain and can occur during forceful movements as well. Often times when experiencing back pain, it is a strong ache which can worsen with movement. Usually the pain is located in the central back, sides of the spine but can extend to the buttocks and thighs too. Lower back pain shouldn’t be ignored as that can prolong the injury if not handled. Low back pain does not have a long-term effect if treated appropriately by a sports physiotherapist.
